Hi Dave. Do you know what the reliability of the ferries coming back from anafi to Santorini is like? We're planning to get a ferry in late august at 4.30 am (which gets in to santorini at 6) and then getting a flight from santorini that afternoon (2pm). I don't know if that seems foolhardy to you...? We guessed that even if the ferry was 3 or 4 hours delayed we'd still have plenty of time, but I don't know if delays can be longer than this. Cheers, rob.
Hi Rob, Difficult one to call. In general the Greek ferries run fine (like 99% of the time). There are two things which affect them, both of which are outside your control. One is the Meltemi Winds (strong winds that blow through the Cyclades) - These make it difficult for ferries to dock and on extremely strong wind days, they may not sail at all. I think you are using the Blue Star Patmos though? If this is the case, it's a very big ship and much more likely to sail in even strong winds. The second factor is strikes - but you'll know about them a few days in advance. On balance, I'd run with it personally. The boat won't be stopping at any other islands, so I think you've got time!
