How to get from Syros to Iraklia

Although geographically speaking the Greek islands of Syros and Iraklia are not too far apart, getting from Syros to Iraklia is not always straightforward.

The frequency depends a lot on the time of year you want to travel, and how busy the ferry operators think the route might be.

For the most part though, if you absolutely have to visit Iraklia straight after Syros, you might be best getting a ferry from Syros to Naxos first, and then another ferry from Naxos to Iraklia.

Syros Iraklia Ferries

Direct ferries sailing from Syros to Iraklia have at times been operated by Saos ferries. This came as a bit of a surprise to me, because I had only ever seen Saos ferries in the Dodecanese islands of Greece!

As you can tell, taking a direct ferry wouldn't give you much in the way of flexibility on when to travel between these two islands in Greece.

I think that the best option would be to take an indirect ferry via either Naxos or Paros. This way, you could pretty much travel on any day of the week, and you'd also get to enjoy a genuine Greek island hopping experience!

One of the good things about traveling around the islands of the Cyclades, is that you can hop between islands. This means that there are multiple different ways of getting from one island to another.

For example, one way to get from Syros to Iraklia island, would be to go via Naxos first. Another choice would be to go via Paros. These travel guides might help you decide:

You can also plan an indirect ferry route such as this by using Ferryscanner. This site is the one I use myself when traveling around the Greek islands, and they have genuine prices, unlike a lot of other sites you may find online!
